Day 40

Objective:  The students will read their last Hemingway story to wrap up the unit.  They will read it only, with no assignment, only to discuss it on Wednesday in a great short class discussion.

If you have not completed Grendel Q3 Study Form, you have until Wednesday at the start of class.

DO ROLL IN GC please.

1.  Read "The End of Something."

Here is the prompt to consider as you read:

In the following short story by Ernest Hemingway, “The End of Something,” the author describes a dramatic experience. Read the passage carefully. Then, in a well-organized essay, show how Hemingway’s techniques convey the impact of the experience on the main character to reveal his purpose.

2.  I want to have a nice week of NO ASSIGNMENTS for you (or for me to grade) that will lead up to Friday's essay on Grendel.  Please (honestly and thoughtfully) read the story.  As you read, consider the prompt above.  It will lead us in our discussion on Wednesday.

This is an experiment...  The no work part.  I hope it works.
