Objective:  The students will Pre-Write the essay.

Note:  I have decided to make this Part I of the Final.  That way you take it seriously and write a good paper.

1.  Go over prompt.  Page 54 of CSU Packet.
2.  Begin outlining your essay.  You can use any notes and the entire packet as a resource.
3.  We begin writing tomorrow.  You will have a complete, proof-read and edited paper on Friday to turn in with the rest of the CSU Journal.

Prewrite:

1.  Write your thesis first.  Subject + Opinion
2.  Plan your paragraphs:  Intro (Use Inverted Triangle Format).  Mention article and author here.
                                       Body 1:  Rites
                                       Body 2:  Rights
                                       Body 3:  Responsibilities
                                       Body 4:  Counter Argument (OR you can counter within each above)
                                       Close:  Bigger Picture
3.  Find at least 3 quotes from the article to include in body.  (To get an A you must use 3 quotes).

Book Report on Monday.  Remember if you turn it in on Tuesday I will LAUGH IN YOUR FACE!  (In my nice, caring, and uplifting way).

Objective:  Students will spend the last day looking at the Age of Responsibility article.

Notes:  1)  This week I will be out on Friday.  So, I will not be here to get the book reports.
            2)  Book Reports are due Monday the June 4.
            3)  Softball Game is Thursday.  Donate $1 for 10 points of EC!!!
            4)  Zero Period:  Final will be Monday and Tuesday (June 4 and 5).

Today:  Activity 13, 14, and 15.  Ethos (Believability:  How much do you trust the author)
                                                  Pathos (Emotions:  How appealed to?)
                                                  Logos (How logical are the arguments)

Objective:  The students will be assigned paragraphs to summarize and then present to the class the overall meanings.

1.  Get folder and packet.
2.  Get into 15 groups (figure it out.....)
3.  Activity 10.  Get assigned paragraphs.  For each paragraph, write its purpose and one sentence summary.
4.  When you have it, come to this computer and type the one sentence summary.
5.  Present.
6.  Complete Activity 11 in Journal.  Rites, Rights, and Responsibilities (those are the three sections).

Rite:  A custom or Ritual that a person does at a certain age.
Rights:  Something that someone is allowed to do by LAW.
Responsibilities:  Something that someone SHOULD DO morally.

2.  Complete Page 62
3.  Score Activities 1-6
4.  Activity 7:  First Reading:  Read with the Grain.

That means:  Read for understanding.
                    Underline main ideas.
                    Highlight confusing parts and words
                    Try to identify the THESIS
                    Write comments and questions in the margin

3.  Activity 4:  Survey the Text:  Page 48 in journal.
4.  Activity 5:  Making Predictions:  In journal.

Objective:  The students will begin the last unit, the CSU Expository Writing Unit titled:  The Age of Responsibility.

1.  Get folder.
2.  Get packet.  Take out page 61 and 63.
3.  Make 10 page work packet.
4.  Activity 1 Quick Write in paper packet
5.  Activity 2 (page 59).  Use your Smart phones to find out the Legal USA Age and the CA Legal Age.
6.  Summer Remembered Poem complete/discuss and turn in!

Objective:  The students will complete a review for tomorrow's Night Final.

Discuss LAST EXTRA CREDIT!!!

1.  Complete the Chapter 7-9 Study Guide (yes.... both sides!!!!)
2.  Turn it in.
3.  Night Review.


4.  Haiku.  Due typed tomorrow.

We will return Night and Lit Books tomorrow.  Zero Period decided that they don't want the test tomorrow, so they decided to take it Friday.

2.  Night Chapter 5 and Study Guide.
3.  Book Report is due in 20 days.  We will finish Night by next Wednesday.  Plan ahead!!!!  Use time wisely.














Chapter 4 Quiz:  In a detailed paragraph, explain why one of the prisoners in the camp asks, "Where is God?"  and another prisoner answered, "Here he is.... He is hanging on this gallows."
