Tomorrow We Write

Objective:  The students will get some writing tips for tomorrow's essay.

Last Day for Q3 Study Form

Objective:  The students will complete the Q3 Study Form and be ready to write the district writing test.

1.  Sign up at the main computer for Turnitin.com.  When you are done with the Q3 Study Form you must submit it through the program for a grade.  If it is more than 20% from any other source, it will fail.  Twenty percent is average with quotes and format that will be similar.

2.  Complete Form and submit.

3.  Print out form to turn in tomorrow.  On top, write your percentage from Turnitin.com.

I am thinking that we will write the essay on Friday.  I have a few more things that I want to discuss with you about he writing and passing of the essay.

Q 3 Study Form

Objective:  The students will complete the Q 3 Study Form for the District Writing Test.

1.  If you turned in your packet it is graded in the back of the room.  If you need to turn it in, do that now.

2.  If you missed yesterday's test, take it now.

3.  Complete the Q3 Study Form on your device.  It must be complete.  If you don't work on it in class (in front of me) I will ask you to turn it in NOW.  In other words, I am not going to give you credit for just copy and pasting someone else's work as your own.

Note:  You will be putting this through Turn It In.com so if you cut and paste from Sparknotes, Schmoop, Fuzzy Bear, Iliketocheat.com, or whatever...  It will catch you.

Note:  Very important to find at least 4 good quotes that you can memorize for the essay.

Objective:  The students will complete the final for Grendel and a Q3 Study Form.

1.  Get test and answer sheet.

2.  Complete the test.

3.  Turn in Grendel Packet

4.  Work on Q3 Study Form.  It is a Google Doc that I have shared with you.  You must complete it TYPED and it is due on Wednesday.

Have you all bought Hnadmaid's Tale?  We start it this week.  It's good so far!

Objective:  The students will complete their theme and allusion work on Grendel.

1.  You know how I said I was getting sick....  well it's actually true today.  So just chill and work on your Grendel packet.

2.  Tomorrow I will be out.  It will be the last work day on Grendel packet.  It is due on Monday of our return from holiday.

Have a great break.  Buy Handmaid's Tale.  Or get a copy. 

Finishing Grendel Today

Objective:  Students will complete their first AP Lit novel.

1.  Group work for Chapter 11.  Poor Unferth!

2.  Grab the handouts for Chapter 12.  We are done with the first book when you read it.

3.  Tomorrow will be the last day to complete the 12 Chapters of Analysis and prepare the packet.

Not feeling so good....

Objective:  The students will complete Grendel 10 group work then read Chapter 11.

1.  Here's the plan for the rest of the week:

Tuesday:  Chapter 11

Wed:  Chapter 12

Thursday:  Compile Packet and complete anything missing.

Friday:  Cough... Cough...

Not a good start to the last week before break. My main computer just started smoking... and died. Moral: Don't smoke!

Objective:  The students will complete group work on Grendel Chapter 9 then read 10.

Get your new book.  I will not be photocopying it for you.  And the library doesn't have copies.  But this is a "College" class, so you can be like college students... and get your own.

Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.  I got it for $9.00 on Amazon.  Need it by return of Thanksgiving Break.

1.  Look up Process Philosophy on phone to know what it is and apply it to Grendel Chapter 9.

2.  Group work Chapter 9

3.  Read  Chapter 10.  Almost done with the book!

Sad, and Happy Day... My oldest kid is moving out!

Objective:  The students will do another AP test practice.  Then read a chapter.

1.  Test Practice.

2.  Chapter 8 Discussion

3.  Chapter 9 of Grendel.

Have a great weekend.  We will finish Grendel next week!  Writing test before the break.  That way you have no homework over the holiday...  Or we can be like the other two AP teachers' classes and read Frankenstein over the break.  Your choice.

Last NIght's Chapter was really long!

Objective:  The students will complete analysis of Chapter 7.

1.  Grendel Chapter 7 Quiz:  20 points.

2.  Chapter 7 Theme/Allusion group work.

3.  Chapter 8 read for tomorrow.

Half way done with the book. What do you think of it so far? Could you use it on the open question on the AP Test?

Objective:  The students will complete Chapter 6 Analysis.

First:  Congratulations to all of the players and cheerleaders who participated in Friday's Powder Puff Game.  It was a great game and everyone was perfect.  I really enjoyed all of you this year.  Both teams!

3.  Grab Chapter 7 sheets and complete reading for tomorrow.  We need to finish this book!

Objective: The students will complete Chapter 6 analysis.

1.  I asked Louie to send out the message last night that I cancelled homework because I forgot it was the last football game of the season.

2.  So complete reading of Chapter 6 and then do the analysis.  Handout on side desk.

4.  Enjoy the weekend.  I am tired!  BUT go to the game tonight to see how much football the senior girls have learned in one week.  They are good!!  Powder Puff at 6 pm.

Objective:  The students will work in groups to understand the hardest chapter in the book.

1.  Get the Zodiac allusion sheet and the theme sheet for Chapter 5.
2.  Also get Chapter 6.  read it tonight.  I heard from a student in Sjoerdsma's class that it is very easy.

Extra Credit:  Who would like to present Chapter 6 in a Power Point like I make?  It doesn't have to have theme and allusion analysis, just summary.  AND NOT FROM Sparknotes, SCHMOOP, or other internet sources.  Just your brian.  They don't have to be as awesomely brilliant as mine!
