Hey class, After two days of meetings, I can't wait to get back into the class. Hopefully you all did a good job on the in class essay. I am sure if you looked over the prompt a bit before you wrote the essay, you were able to do it with no problem. It also helped if you paid attention to the movie.

Tomorrow I will be back and we will take the Lord of the Flies test.

We are watching one of the coolest movies ever made called East of Eden. It is a Biblical Allegory to the story of Cain and Abel. The modern story follows two brothers as they seek approval of their father. The movie is based on a novel by John Steinbeck, one of America's most famous and most accessible authors. His stories are so easy to read, but offer great insights into the human race.

The movie stars James Dean in his final role. He died shortly after making the picture and he is the first person to win an Academy Award posthumously. Although the movie has some quirks that show its age, it is overall very entertaining if we all have an open mind.

Have a great weekend! Don't forget your project!

Mr. Warren's parable:

The once was a very wise old(ish) man who told his young students to plan ahead and read whenever possible. The end of the year would come quickly and he warned them that if they waited too long to finish their outside books, they would be in troble at the end. Well, one student named Scott decided to take the wise man's advice and read a long book the first quarter of the year. Antother student named Kelly read a shorter book, but she only had a few pages to read her last quarter. The last student named Ashley, well, she was in trouble both at home and at school. When the day came for papers to be turned in and pages counted, she was very upset. She stressed out and could not complete the number of pages needed, and she blamed it on the wise man. But the other young people just smiled and were happy.
