Day 15

Objective:  The students will complete the second MC Practice.

1.  Get Chapter 3 Outline out for stamp.

Student Registration:

  • Please encourage students to use a personal email address to create their account. Explain that this email should only be used for school or professional purposes. Students should not use their school email, otherwise they will not be able to access their account upon graduating. They will need to verify their emails via their phones as their Chromebooks do not allow students to sign into their personal emails.  

  • Guide students to enter their full LEGAL name to avoid issues when redeeming college credit. Students should not use nicknames or non-legal names.

  • Students have access to update some of their information via their account settings on College Board (ID numbers, emails, passwords).

  • Students should save their password & security phrase in multiple locations as we do NOT have access to help them retrieve their accounts.

  • Students must submit their login information via AP Login Information 2025-26. Please provide your students this link.

About Fines:

  • Exams will be free for all students enrolled in an AP course. 

  • A fee of $40 will be applied to any exam that is canceled after November 15, including cases where a student is dropped from their MLKHS courses. Students are required to inform Mr. D’Amico via email if they drop the course to make sure the exam is canceled with College Board.

  • A fee of $40 will also apply if a student is absent or arrives late on the day of the exam.

  • Students who are not enrolled in an AP class but wish to take the exam will incur a charge of $99. Students must request an exam-only registration with Mr. D’Amico before the end of October.

Day 14

Objective:  The students will outline the last pre-reading chapter in Perrine's.

There is a change of plans.  Usually Thursdays are MC Practice, but I must grade 60 essays before Back to School Night tonight.  Tomorrow we will do presentations and MC Practice.

1.  Get your outline out for stamp.

2.  Go over my presentation on Chapter 2.

3.  Get out a blank sheet of paper and read/outline Chapter 3 (get out unit cover sheet for pages).

Objective:  The students will present their chapter and outline the first chapter from Perrine's.

Get you hands on a copy of Grendel by John Garner.  We will be starting it soon.

Day 10

Objective:  The students will analyze and read a Q2 Prompt.

Buy our first book:  Grendel by John Gardner.  You will be required to close read all our novels for points in the grade book. 

Period 5:  Very sorry about yesterday!  I got called out on a two hour teacher union thing.  It might happen a few times this year. 

1.  Presentations:  Just Period 5 to catch up:  Let's do three.

2.  Period 5:  Let's go over yesterday's answers.  MC Thursday:  On most Thursday we will do some form of Multiple Choice Practice.  We will start with paper handouts and group work.  Then we will move to paper and individual scores.  Then digital.  Keep all handouts to include in your Unit Packets.

3.  Q2 Prompt:  Break down prompt.  Read and analyze the story.  Write an AP Intro.  Discuss what you would write about.

Day 8

Objective:  The students will read their first piece, outline a Q1 Essay, and write an intro paragraph.

1.  Presentations:  Let's do five.

 2.  What is the AP Test:  It is a total of THREE hours.

        1st Hour:  Multiple choice:  It is 45% of the overall grade.  Five selections:  55 Questions

        2nd and 3rd hours:  Three Essays:  Q1:  Poem,  Q2:  Prose, Q3:  Open Source

2.  Sample Q1:   "The Snowstorm"

            1.  Break down Prompt

            2.  Read and analyze

            3.  Write an AP Intro Paragraph

            4.  Outline your body paragraphs

3.  What should an intro to an AP Essay look like?

        Three to four sentences

         Name the author, the title, type of lit and time written if given.

        One line summation of the piece:  The Top of the Iceberg. 

        The thesis of your paper which states the UT.

Day 6

Objective:  The students will know what the AP test is and what they need to do in order to pass.

1.  Turn in your posters.  Make sure that your name is visible ON THE FRONT.

2.  Warrenmlk.com:  This is my webpage you will use for all of your handouts, lesson plans, and information for the class.  If you are absent, you are expected to go on the website and find out what you are responsible to do.

3.  What is the AP Test?  Three hours:  Three essays, and 55 MC Questions.

4.  Complete a TTSTCANDI Poster for 10 points or less.  Due tomorrow.

Day 1

Objective:  The students will look into a college of their choice and find information about it and its costs.

Grab a handout from side desk and get out your computer and a pen. 

1.  Welcome!  Sit anywhere that you feel you can listen and learn without interruptions or causing interruptions. We will make a seating chart when the classes are balanced and all changes are made next week.  

2.   Roll and Intro

3.  College Worksheet.  This is due tomorrow for 10 points (or less). Add three things to the back.

14.  Two possible minor degrees that you could study.

15.   Housing:  Where and what is it and how much money?

Writing:  In a great paragraph, write what you should do THIS year in order to attend this school.
