Objective: Students will close read chapter 5 and the article and write level 2 and 3 questions to prepare for Socratic Seminar

Materials: Pen, Nihilism Note from yesterday, Highlighter, Post It, Theme Chart, Question Stems, Article, Grendel, Anticipation Guide

Objective:  The students will read the most important chapter in the book.

1.  Discuss Chapter 3:  Sophists:  Great speakers.  Skilled at moving people with words.  And they don't care about truth, right or wrong, good or bad.  Just winning.

2.  Discuss Chapter 4:  Theology:  The belief in god and religion as a binding force for men and society.

3.  Make sure that you have completed four chapter questions AND four theme analysis.

4.  Read Chapter 5:  The Dragon and Nihilism.
