I decided not to make you write today... A little research before since you LOVE YOUR PHONES!!!

Objective:  The students will look at two educational sources and develop understandins of the important symbols in The Catcher in the Rye.

1.  Symbols Handout.  Use your phones, books and each other to complete descriptions and textual evidence (also tell me the source) for each of the symbols that has been mentioned so far in the book.

2.  Today and Tomorrow:  Catcher Chapters 16-18.

Have a great break.  No homework.  We will finish Catcher when we return.

Objective:  The students will analyze the characterization of minor characters in the novel and their importance to revealing the main character.

1.  Get your Catcher Quiz #1 from folder.

2.  Catcher Quiz Number 2:  Discuss how the author characterizes a minor character(s) in the novel and his/her importance in revealing the main character.  You can choose any character(s).

3.  Read Chapters 10-12 and complete study guide.

Objective:  The students will discuss two important symbols in the story.

1.  Get your essays from the back.  I need to get the score in the computer.

2.  Discuss Catcher Chapters 4-6 and the two symbols.

3.  Catcher Chapters 7-9 and study questions.

Weekend off...

Objective:  The students will analyze and grade 4 student Othello Essays.

1.  Get an Othello essay packet. 
2.  Read and discuss all 4 essays in order to get normed.
3.  In groups, read a minimum of 3 papers.  On the back, write the score (1-9) and write one positive and one to grow on comment.  Try not to be nasty (sometimes it's hard I know).

4.  Albert.io Poetry Assignment 3.  Due by 11:59 on Sunday.  If you are at home right now you are still required to do this.

Catcher Tomorrow

Objective:  The students will write a great Q3 Essay using Othello as the lit.

1.  Get out three sheets of paper.
2.  Write your initials, student ID, and Period.
3.  Write neatly and on one side only.
4.  Staple Prompt to the top when complete and put in white basket.

Essay Tomorrow

Objective:  The students will discuss the 12 prompts that were outlined on Friday.

Not so good with Albert.io Assignment #2.  Not impressed at all.

1.  Get into groups.  Share your ideas with the entire class.  If you are not sharing, it would be smart to write some notes.

2.  I will pick the prompt that has the best discussion/reaction and possibility for everyone writing a good essay.

3.  Catcher in the Rye on Wednesday.  8 bucks at Barnes and Noble or online for free if you print it (but not here)

Friday Already!

Objective:  The students will look at AP Q3 Prompts and figure out what they would do if assigned one of them to write an essay using Othello.

1.  Get into groups.
2.  You will be assigned TWO prompts to outline.
3.  Following written directions and complete for both prompts.
4.  One speaker from each group will discuss and tell the class what your group decided.
5.  While other present, listeners should take notes on paper.  You will write on one of these prompts on Monday.

Turn in Q3 Study Form for 100 points.

Don't forget Albert.io Assignment Number 2 by Sunday night.

Happy Thusrday!

Objective:  The students will complete a review of all parts of Othello.

1.  Turn in Othello Packet.  Be sure to check off all the things that are in it AND don't lie.  If it's wrong, the highest grade you get is a 60.  If you only did half of one assigned part, write 1/2 on the space.

2.  Complete Q3 Study Form.  Due tomorrow printed out.

Senior Non-Ditch Day

Objective:  The students will complete Poetry AP Test Practice on two poems using Albert.io.

1.  Sorry I couldn't find my electric griddle, so no egg burritos today.  But help yourself to a donut.

2.  If you are here.  You get 5 Extra Credit Points.  Even if you are at DECA or King High Remembers.

3.  Complete the Poetry Assignment on Albert.io.  It is due by 8 pm.  It is worth 15 points.  There are 19 questions possible.  I gave you a new poem, and an old poem that you should be familiar with.  I got 17/19 correct.  89%.  See if you can beat me.
