Day 8

 Objective:  The students will discuss Chapter 2 and two important allusions.

Day 7


Objective:  The students will discuss Perrine's Chapter 1.  Then complete Chapter 2 before we read our first story.

 Important Note:  I have a different version of Perrine's that you do.  So my page numbers on my outlines may be different from those that you have.  So you will have to make that adjustment yourselves.  Sorry.

1.  Roll Quiz on Google Classroom.  Try it and see if this works.

2.  Presentations.  Let's do three or four.

3.  Discuss Perrine's Chapter 1 on Reading a Story Power Point (You take notes)

4.  Complete Chapter 2 of Perrine's on Plot and Structure.

Day 6


Objective:  The students will present some Summer Work Presentations.  Then they will complete their first MC Practice.


OK I tried to find Perrine's online.  It is not there anymore.  You have to get the book!!   Get your text! 

1.  Presentations 1-4.  Students will present their slide show and discuss their chapter.  They will also show their completed poster that will hang in the class when we return (think positively!).  

The class will take notes on each chapter.  There will be a 100 point test when the entire book is presented.

Day 5

 Objective:  Students will complete the definitions for the Tone Terms on the Perrine's Prose Packet 1.

1.  Problems with signing up for Summer Work Presentations.  Only ONE person until all filled.  NO ONE WILL WORK ON PRESENTATIONS TOGETHER.  Each person will do a presentation and a poster.  This is not a group activity.

2.  Yesterday you completed (or should have) the Lit Terms on the Perrine's Prose Unit.  Today finish the Tone Terms.  On the same document.  Just add a new section.

3.  All Personal Statements have been graded.  I think only 3 are done.  The rest need work and re-submission.

Summer Work Projects:  Click on doc and add your name.  Once they are all full, the remaining students can double up.

Day 3

Objective:  The students will begin their college Personal Statement essay with direction from the teacher.

1.  Discuss No Dogs Bark Q2 Essay Prompt and share some good intro paragraphs.

How Are YOU Going to Pay For College?

Objective:  The students will know what the UC system requires for the Personal Insights Questions and write one of their own Personal Statements.

Day 1

 Objective:  The students will try to get through this virtual thing as best as possible and learn a few things about this class.

Good Morning!!  Everyone be patient with me!  I am totally new that this stuff!

1.  Roll and Intro (Supplies:  Get yourself about 12 file folders to keep all of our units in.  Paper, Pens.  All work will be written in pen at all times)


3.  Summer Work Requirement:  100 points.  Due September 5

4.  Discuss AP Test:

     Multiple Choice:  45% of the test score grade:  55 questions/ 1 hour

     Three Essays: 55% of test score grade:  2 hours:  Q1= Poetry     Q2= Prose     Q3= Open Source 

5.  Classwork:  Q1 Prompt:  Read and analyze.  Write an intro paragraph to read aloud if called.

6.   TTSTCANDI Chart:

7.  Independent Work:  Create a TTSTCANDI Poster for your workspace.  Use 1/2 of a poster board (for 50 points) or use a piece of paper (for 40 points).  Use the pictures below.  We will use this ALL YEAR LONG with all reading pieces and discussions.


AP Intro paragraphs:

2-3 sentences.  Keep it short and to the point.  Don't get cute and try to hook.

Name the piece, the author and the time it's written
