1.  Discuss Chapter 7.  I know that the beginning was a bit hard.  But the most part was understandable.  There is a great audio version of the my son found.  The reader is awesome.

Objective:  The students will complete a MC Practice and analyze chapter 7 of Grendel.

Day 32

Objective:  The students will discuss the new character, Unferth, in a debate.

1.  Get the handout.  Decide what way you want to argue.

2.  Divide into groups.  Using specific text evidence, prepare your argument.

3.  Debate:  Winning team gets 50 points.  Losers get 5.

4.  Take day off of homework.  Catch up in book and worksheets if needed.  I want to be done with Grendel by next Friday.

 

Day 31

Objective:  The students will practice more AP Analysis Writing.

1.  Grendel 5 Test.  Put your name on the answer scan sheet.

2.  AP Analysis Writing:  One Time, One Night:  Listen and read.  Write an AP Analysis paragraph about the lit devices that the author uses to create his purpose.

3.  Grendel 6 Reading and Analysis (Read with this question in mind:  Is Unferth a Christ-figure)

Day 30

Objective:  The students will practice AP Analysis Writing using a visual and read Grendel Chapter 5.

1.  AP Analysis:  "The Farm" pic.  Write a paragraph about what you see in this picture using what you have learned from How to Read Like a Lit Professor.

Day 29

Objective:  The students will use today to discuss anything from Grendel that is hard to understand, go over the chapter analysis handout, and the essay.

Today is a catch up day!  For us to make sure that you understand all parts of Grendel.

1.  Get out Grendel and the chapter handouts.  Discuss the chapters with me. 

2.  Complete any work needed to catch up.

Take the weekend off of any work.

Day 24

Objective:  The students will discuss their analysis of Grendel Chapter 1.

Get Grendel Chapter 1 for stamp.

 I want the "Graded Work" folder empty by the end of the period.

Next week I will be out until Friday.  Long story.  But I know you will be awesome for the sub(s).

Day 23

 Objective:  The students will complete a MC Practice.

1.  Get the handout.  Work on it alone, then in groups.

2.  Grendel Chapter 1 Reading and Analysis.  Quiz tomorrow.

Day 22

Objective:  The students will understand the context of how Grendel is written and how to analyze it as we read.

1.  Show me your Grendel book (100 points)

2.  Discuss Miss Brill Essay that you will do Monday.

3.  Turn in Prose Packet Number 1 for 100 points.

5.  Grendel Chapter 1 Worksheet close reading.

Day 21

Objective:  The students will complete story analysis in groups.

Grendel starts tomorrow!  You MUST have a book or Chapter 1 printed and ready to read.

1.  Get the lit books.

3.  Discuss your analysis of Miss Brill for discussion.

4.  Tomorrow Prose Packet 1 is due:  Are all parts complete???  All Terms??

Day 20

Objective:  The students will begin the next prose piece.

Objective:  The students will discuss and analyze How I met My Husband.

Note:  We will begin Grendel on Wednesday of next week.  You need a copy to close read.  Either buy it or print it.
