What is your theme for life as a 15/16 year old?

Objective:  The students will dig deep into their souls to create a theme for their life as a sophomore.  :)

1.  Work on "Theme for Honors Lit"  Be sure to include some alliteration, assonance and personification.  Can you add a symbol?  Maybe a cool image?  Maybe some onomatopoeia?  Make it a RAP (Franklin B.).  THIS IS DUE TYPED ON TUESDAY!

2.  Book Report:  It's due a week from Tuesday.

You Get to Write Your Own Poem today!

Objective:  Students will read a cool poem, then model one of their own after it.

1.  Get handout.
2.  Complete group activity
3.  Write your own "Theme for Honors Lit"


Book report is less than 2 weeks away.Some of you still don't have a book approved...  Some of you don't even have a book.

A Poem a Day...

Objective:  The students will analyze a cool John Updike poem.

1.  Get your folders, your lit books and your Night books.
2.  Analyze all parts of Ex-Basketball Player"
3.  Discuss your analysis.
4.  Outside Reading:  You now have 13 days.

ALL EXTRA CREDIT IS NOW OVER...  Except one last one.

Seniors, Staff and Softball Against Cancer Game:  May 29th at 3 pm.

Donate $1 to the American Cancer Society and get 10 Extra Credit Points.
Max Points:  $20 = 200 Extra Credit Points (This can not be used in place of the book report).
Isn't that like buying a grade?  Well Kinda...  but it's for a good cause!

Night is over!

Objective:  Students will pass the test.

1.  Turn in typed and printed Haiku.
2.  Grab both a test answer sheet and the test booklet.  DO NOT WRITE ON THE TEST.
3.  Put your name on the front of the test answer sheet and set up the back like the back board.
4.  Take the test.

We will return Night and our literature anthology on Wednesday to the library.

Sub tomorrow and Friday. If you a bad, then you lose all points for the two days.

Objective:  Look at another poem... and finish night.

1.  Get folder and a poem paper.  The paper needs 2 sides.

2.  Let's do "Summer Remembered" today.

3. Tomorrow and Friday:  Sub.  You will get a packet of 3 assignments to complete with Night over those two days.  So finish Night tonight.

4.  Night Haiku are due on Monday.  Typed.

5.  Don't forget.  I am not going to remind you daily....  Book report due on June 2.   I will not... WILL NOT...  grade late papers.  PERIOD!  AND I will not accept a book report on a book that I don't see you reading...  and have approved.  In other words, no books that you read years ago.
