Day 136

Objective:  The students will finish all Act III assignments.

1.  Act III Scene 3 1/2 and Scene 4 Notes 

2.  Finish anything from Act III and the Translation from Act II if not done already.

3.  Finish Mush outline if not complete yet.

4.  We will finish Othello this week.  Get a copy of Catcher in the Rye by next Monday.  See me if this is a problem.  I will find one for you.

Objective:  The students will begin Act III.

2.  Read for 20 minutes

3.  Tomorrow you will read the rest of Act III by yourself (I put the audio of it in your GC).  Don't be lazy and just read what the internet says about it.  Actually read/listen to it.  Then complete the review.

3.   Act I Scene 1 Notes:  In GC, open the Othello Notes Doc.  Each day that we read you will type notes about what we will read.  This will be printed out and put in packet when we are finished reading.

Objective:  The students will finish any work from Drama Packet.

1.  I am not sure if you were able to read the entire play and finish the analysis handout, so today you will complete anything from the packet that is unfinished.  It's due tomorrow.

2.  AP Classroom MC Practice Number 3:  "A Fine Balance."  Ten points to the computer.

Objective:  The students will read a drama and analyze its purpose.

Note:  Tomorrow I will be out with my wife for a quick surgery.  I know that you will be great and I appreciate it.

1.  Get the Perrine's Book.

2.  I need four readers:  A young man, a mommy, a daddy, and a Grandma.

3.  Read the play aloud as a class.  Remember what a writer of the Theater of the Absurd believes about life and our existence.

4.  Complete the assignment.

Day 118

Objective:  The students will complete the last two poem analysis.

1.  Get both poems and complete analysis using the poetry how to read checklist.

 

­­How to Analyze a Poem:

Steps:

Before Reading if possible:  Look into the poet and the time period.  This may provide you with information that will help you analyze.  You can use your phone for this.

1.        Identify Form:

a.       Count and label stanzas

b.       Count and label lines if not done already

c.       Look for a rhyme scheme and identify

d.       Look for a specific rhythm (look at the number of syllables in the first few lines.)

2.       Identify the subject/situation of the poem.

3.       Identify the speaker of the poem (NEVER assume the speaker is the poet)

4.       Identify characters in the poem

5.       Find shifts in the poem (in tone, speakers, time periods, etc)

6.       Come up with a UT

7.       Identify Literary Devices

Objective:  The students will work on their speed.

1.  You have 57 minutes to complete the following:

1.  Analyze "When You Are Old" and write an intro and one body paragraph.  In GC.

2.  Complete a MC Practice on AP Classroom.  "Digital MC Practice 2"
