Day 17

Objective:  The students will discuss their analysis of our first story.

1.  Get out your TTSTCANDI for a stamp.

2.  Copy the Symbols Notes onto your Allusions Notes paper.

3.  Discuss the TTSTCANDI

4.  Read "How I Met My Husband" in Perrine's.  Now I was very unimpressed with how many people didn't read the first story, so tomorrow's reading test will be worth 50 points.  It's 15 pages so start now and finish it at home.

Symbols in Lit:  Colors

·    White:  Purity and innocence; live, love.  Sometimes death (snow is white)

·    Orange:  Midday; high noon of existence, harvest, pride, ambition.

·    Black:  No color, sorrow, evil, darkness, depression.  Nothingness, void, corruption.

·    Gray:  Mediocrity, sickness.

·    Red:  Sexual passion, anger,

·    Green:  youth and vigor, growth and fertility. Hope, change, life, and inexperience.

·    Yellow:  Sickness, weakness

·    Purple:  royalty, riches, quickening of life.

·    Blue:  Truth, intellect, dawn and awakening.  Life.
