Day 37

Objective:  The students will read and analyze the next chapter.

1.  Finish anything from Chapter 9.  It was a hard chapter.  I literally watched three videos on Process Philosophy and I still don't grasp its meaning.  The best that I can make of it is that everything in life is changing.  Nothing is going to stay the same.  I like this quote from one of the videos:  "You can not step in the same river twice."

So applying that to the chapter:  Grendel is changing with each new experience.  He "can feel change coming."  Religion has changed (they used to kill virgins), Gods change, beliefs, etc.  This is represented by Ork and the younger priests.

Ork believes that god's purpose is create intense feelings of change.  "Time is perpetual perishing."

Also, page 126-127 shows a man hunting a "hart" (deer) and how time (like sand in an hour glass) slows down at a crucial moment, but it can't be stopped.  The deer still dies.
