One Week Already! Have you learned something each day? That is the expectation!
Objective: The students will read other Personal Statements to grade. The students then will outline Chapter 1 of Perrine's.
1. Using yesterday's MC Practice Sheet. Please fill in your score for MY OWN PERSONAL DATA. This will help me see where you are at without having to put grades in the gradebook.
2. Get in groups of 3. Pass your typed personal statement to others in your group. Grade them on a scale of 1-9. Nine being awesome. 1 being something like what I showed you not to do on the example.
3. Discuss your "grades" with your partners. Using their recommendations. Take it home and make corrections before I get to read them. Due again Monday.
4. Prose Handouts: Today complete the outline for Chapter 1 using the guide that I have given you.

Objective: The students will look at an example of the Prose section of the AP Literature test.
Note: Summer Work due into Google by September 14 (100 points)

a) Breakdown the prompt
b) Read and annotate the story
c) Outline your paper
d) Pair up and compare what each of you would write about and share specific details you would use to support.
e) Write the intro

Homework: Get a binder that you will use all year. Organize it how you would like in order to use it and reference throughout the year and to study for the AP Exam. I would do something like: Prose, Poetry, Open Source, MC Practice, Essays.

4. Poetry Prompt:
a) If this prompt was given to you as one part of the AP test, what are the steps that you would take to complete the task?
b) Read the poem: What would you do if you had 40 minutes to read, analyze and write?
c) Discuss: What would/could you write about? What would you use as support?
d) Write: Write the Intro Paragraph
